LOST Season 6
LA X
The aftermath from Juliet’s detonation of the hydrogen bomb is revealed.
Review:
Well, let’s start off from, uh, somewhere. Sigh, I always have difficulty in cutting up a LOST episode and review each plot separately as they are all both separated but connected as well. Let’s do it chronologically first then. Right, we all wondered how the bomb detonation will goes, on one side it felt like a cheat to actually reset the whole thing, on the other side, if nothing happens, it will feel like the entire season 5 is pointless. As usual, LOST manages to surprises us once again with a simple answer of “Why can’t we have them both?”

Introducing the new and improved Others!
So yeah, the episode opens up with Jack back in the plane like in season 1, but with a minor twist, like the plane never crashed (oh, and the island is now underwater too). It’s not LOST if it’s not confusing, since after that scene, we got Kate on a tree with the rest of the group back on that very same island that we just saw underwater, what the hell actually happened? Yeah, seems like (“seems like”, since up to this point, nothing has actually confirmed what it is) LOST has found a new time line to explore other than the past and the future, it’s the alternate time line where Oceanic 815 never crash. A brilliant move I’ve got to say.
S0 yeah, back with our LOSTies as they found Juliet still alive under all that rubbles. Now, a lot of people complained how it is so sad to have Juliet gets killed twice, but I suppose this is a lot better since now she and Sawyer can have a proper closure, not to mention her final cryptic message, “It worked.”. Though I must say, I’ve been hoping that she doesn’t get killed >.< Anyway, you’re my favorite female character on LOST, Juliet, hope you’ll appear again someday!
So, since Sawyer is busy burying Juliet, the rest of the group decided to take a tour to The Temple where they get jumped by some other Others (I’m starting to get kinda bored with this kind of scene) and brought to the Temple where these new Others lived and somehow resurrects Sayid. I’m kinda disappointed with all these, I mean, how much more other Others the Island still have? With all the exposure to the Others (the original Others) seasons ago, don’t you think it’s time to stop spawning more Others? Not to mention that we’re already on the final season, so I don’t think adding a new, big mystery like this one is gonna do us any good.

...is that a face you'd show when you said you want to go home?
I think I’m forgetting something thus far… Ah, right, John Locke, or is it still John Locke? Well, it’s nice to have some kind of confirmation in LOST, so I really am pleased to see that John Locke is confirmed as the Smoke Monster. Not to mention that we finally see the Monster fights for real and how it can think on its own (Oh, and don’t forget the black ashes). Yeah, all these scenes with Locke has added much more knowledge regarding the mythology of LOST.
If you’re tuning in for season 6 in hopes of answers, then makes sure to not lost a single frame of Locke’s scene as Locke’s plot is the one that’s full of information. And not to mention that I kinda like this new Locke, he’s really creepy this time around. Not just that, the scenes gives us the overall theme and overview regarding this season where it all seem like to lead to a final fight between John Locke and… something, since Jacob has died, who will be Smoke Monster’s new enemy now? Jack Shepard?

Man of Science meets Man of Faith part 2
The last part is the alternate reality, or “flash sideaway” (what kind of name is that <_<) as ABC calls it. It’s so great to see all these scenes again, makes me feel really nostalgic, especially with all the parallels, like Locke and Boon (too bad Shannon isn’t gonna be with us) or Jack meets Locke again. Some things played differently just make us feel more nostalgic as we try our best to remember exactly how it played out.
And these things don’t simply make us feel nostalgic, as there are pieces everywhere that screams “different”, most notably Hurley’s statement of being the luckiest guy in the world. Though something confuses me, like has Locke truly goes on his walkabout? Now Sun can’t speak english? Hopefully this will get explained as we get a character-centric episode. (That’s one of the things that annoys me this episode, I really want to know what’s going on in each person mind)
BTW, have I mentioned Desmond is on the plane? At least, at one moment, he’s on the plane?
Summary:
- Other Others, seriously? At a time like this?
- Locke is Smokie confirmation
- The Smoke Monster fight is cool
- Juliet is dead T_T
- Brilliant resolution for last season cliffhanger (two timelines)
- Awesome parallels between the two realities
Final Rating: 9.3/10
Rating a LOST episode is always hard, if it’s compared to other shows, it will always have a perfect score!
